The Trump administration has announced additional travel restrictions for travelers coming to the United States from Brazil in an effort to combat the spread of the novel coronavirus, also known as COVID-19. Any noncitizen who has been in Brazil within the last 14 days will not be able to travel to the United States as of Wednesday, May 27th, 2020. In recent weeks Brazil has seen the highest increase in COVID-19 cases.

This news comes after months of the Trump administration announcing travel restrictions from other European countries, as well as shutdowns at the U.S./Canada and U.S./Mexico borders.

This news does not affect U.S. citizens and green card holders. The State Department has additionally advised all Americans who wish to leave Brazil to do so immediately. These travel restrictions will remain in effect until President Trump lifts restrictions.

We are closely monitoring this news and will provide updates as they become available. If you are currently in the United States on an ESTA or Visitor Visa, and are interested in pursuing renewal or extension, please schedule a consultation with D’Alessio Law Group today.
